PawnShop presents its first group exhibition, a survey of international sculpture by four artists not known for their sculpture.
Sculptrue started as a dyslexic’s typo, and led to a discussion about artists’ practices, exhibitions, and the values and connotations of these paradigms. Each artist will present a sculpture, some are requested works, some are chosen through discussion. Yet the artists’ growing reputations are not known for their 3-D objects.
This exhibition will throw focus on each of these artists work in sculpture, usually viewed as a by-product of their principal practice, but deserving closer attention away from their usual exhibition context.
The selection of the artists and the work chosen aims to compliment and juxtapose, leading to new discussions and insights for both the audience and the exhibitors.
Pawnshop is pleased to present two emerging Los Angeles artists and two international artists, well established in Europe, showing on the West Coast for the first time.
