Screen Tests, 2006-07
“There is a conflict blossoming at the heart of culture, a conflict convened around the property rights that subsist in materials stored in public archives. Screen Tests explores this conflict, while enriching rather than depleting the public domain.”
Commissioned as part of British Art Show 6, these four artists identified a regional public film and media archive in each of the hosted cities. They negotiated with each archive to produce Screen Tests, a new project, that evolved during the exhibition tour.
