PawnShop is a one-year gallery / project space opened in Westwood (2 blocks from the Hammer Museum) in 2007.

The Westwood space will re-open on August 22nd as:
CRISP LONDON LOS ANGELES
partnered by the new West End / London location at:
3 Newman Passage, Fitzrovia, London W1.

Both cities will unveil with the debut solo exhibition of recent UCLA graduate, Nathan Danilowicz.

Pawnshop presented an international exhibition programme of solo shows, curated projects, and guest events.

In 2007-2008, Los Angeles based Katie Herzog, Ben Pruskin and Justin Hansch all received their first West coast solo exhibition. Internationally, PawnShop welcomed Hannah Rickards (UK), Andrea Buttner (DE) and Gereon Krebber (DE) all to their first solo exhibition in the USA. Each of these five week exhibitions accompanied by a published brochure, featuring images and an interview with the artist.

Guest projects included Sculptrue, Shelf Life, Drip Event and the guest curatorial series, Solo Solo which welcomed to Los Angeles for the first time curators Vincent Honoré and Ben Borthwick. Solo Solo, the exhibition series inviting one curator to select one artwork, returns for its third installment in September for CRISP LONDON LOS ANGELES, with Hammer Museum curator, Jenée Misraje selecting Joe Sola for London, and UCLA doctoral student, Natilee Harren selecting Vincent Ramos for Los Angeles.

The Video Library is an ongoing and expanding permanent collection of video works in which visitors are welcome to browse and watch DVDs from an international roster. The east gallery houses an 8ft x 8ft soundproofed cube screening video works on an LCD monitor with surround sound alongside each project in the main gallery.
